Bill and I drove to Prineville, 17 miles east of Redmond. We went to see Kathy and Gary, and Suzanne. We knew them in Seaside.
Kathy and I worked at the same school and were very good friends. Suzanne also workd for the school district, but not at the elementary school where Kathy and I worked. Gary liked to fish and often caught trout, which they didn’t like to eat so he would bring them to us. What a treat!
Suzanne moved to Prineville three years ago after she retired. Kathy and Gary visited her several times and like the area. They have now bought a second home there. Gary has retired, but Kathy still works for the school district.
We met them at the McDonald’s in Prineville at 11:30, and sat and talked for awhile. After discussing lunch and dinner plans, we decided to eat lunch at Mickey D’s before going to their house.
We spent some time touring their house. Kathy is very good at decorating and has furnished their new place, mostly from garage sales, consignment shops, and thrift stores. The theme fits in with a house on two acres among the pine trees.
Kathy, Suzanne, and I went to some garage sales. We left the guys at home to explore Gary’s large shop on their property. The first garage sale was OK. I bought a couple of things.
The second one was where I hit paydirt. The first thing I saw a medium sized cast iron pot with a handle and a lid. Michelle loves to cook with cast iron. The price was $27, but half price today. Then the young man in charge told us it was $5 a bag for everything you could put in it. Wow!
The first thing in my $5 bag was the pot and lid. Then I proceeded to fill the bag the rest of the way to the top. It was an exciting sale. Kathy also bought several quilted items, but they were excluded form the $5 deal.
We took the long way back to Kathy’s house, touring the area. The town is in a very pretty setting.
After eating dinner at Dillon’s Grill, we said goodbye to our friends and drove back to Redmond. It was a fun day!
