It was cool and windy with a threat of rain this morning, but we went out on the caching trail, anyway. Our choice of places to look for hidden things was on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River. We drove into Muscatine, crossed over the bridge and honked and yahooed our way over into some really pretty farmland.
We didn’t get cold until we tried to find a cache hidden right down at the water’s edge. With the wind coming off the river, we got very, very cold. We looked for about 15 minutes, but didn’t find anything among the flood debris. We listed it as a DNF and went back to the car.
While we were going to the next cache, we cranked the heat up as high as it would go and tried to thaw out. We found 12 caches before deciding it was time for lunch. It was very enjoyable driving past the green fields and farms. Each farm had several barns and silos.
Back over the bridge celebrating, we went to a seafood place. Bill loves shrimp. Our only two other stops were at JoAnn Fabrics and Walmart.
When we got back to the campground, we watched the NASCAR race from “Dega.” It didn’t end as we would of liked, but that’s life in the fast lane, eh?
We ended the day watching a barge going up the river.
