Our departure from Bend was later than we had planned and it only got worse.  The map showed two ways to get to the Eugene area.  One was shorter by 12 miles so you can guess which one we took.  Hwy. 242 turned out to be not so economical.  After traveling on it for at least 10 miles, a sign warned us that vehicles over 35 feet in length were prohibited.  It took us three or four miles to find a place where we could turn this behemoth around.

Bill fumed all the way back to the turn off to Hwy. 20/126.  A pretty drive over a mountain pass cheered him up.

After checking in at the Elks Lodge in Springfield and resting a bit, we went for an early dinner with our friend, Sally Ross.  She had a meeting to go to so after we ate she went one way and we went another...to geocache.  We found six caches before it got too dark to see what we were doing.

Today’s Travel Totals:  Today’s mileage, 137---Geocaches, 6
