November 30, 2012

November 30, 2012

Bill had finished his morning chores (hooking the Honda on, securing things inside, fueling, etc.) and we were on the road at 7:15.  Mississippi, here we come!

Bill had a hankering for Friday fish at Ed's, so off we went toward Brent’s.  It's kind of like heading a horse for the barn.  There's no stopping the horse.  Well, fish at Ed's has that same effect on Wild Bill.

As we crossed the Mississippi River there was lots of honking and yahooing.  Soon after, we stopped at Walmart in Vicksburg to eat breakfast before continuing on to Brandon.

We stopped at Flying J for propane.  Bill unhooked the CRV and, while he continued on to Brent’s house, I went to see my chiropractor.  He was able to give me an adjustment on my left hip, which has been bothering me for quite awhile.

After Coleson and Sara got home from school, we went to a bike shop and then for ice cream treats.  It is good to be back with the “Sippi” group again.

We traveled 137 miles today!  Now the coach and Bill will get a rest for a few weeks.

November 29, 2012

November 29, 2012

We were on the road this morning at 9:45.  The drive through this part of Texas is very pretty.  And into Louisiana, as well.  There was lots of green...evergreens and trees that were just beginning to change colors, plus green grass and fields.

The state line celebration (honk, honk! yahoo!) was a good one. We had been practicing.  This time I didn't sleep through it all like I did on the last two state lines.

After stopping at a Rest Area to eat lunch, we drove on to Monroe and parked at Walmart.  We took some rest time before leaving the MH.

It was a really nice day so we set off to find some geocaches.  Just as the sun went down, we found our sixth cache.  We also got to see some really nice Christmas decorations in the old downtown area.

Today’s Travel Totals:  Miles traveled, 168---Caches found. 6.

November 28, 2012

November 28, 2012

Happy Birthday, Matthew!  You’ve practiced, so make it a great day!  The big 14!

Diesel today was $3.69 when Bill filled the tank this morning.  That was at a Walmart station.

Our first stop for the day was in Arlington, Texas...at the In-N-Out for a late lunch.  Yippy, Skippy!  We've been looking forward to this for miles and miles.

With very happy tummies, we continued on I-20 through the mass of humanity known as the Dallas-Fort Worth area.  Actually, it was the easiest "crossing" we have ever had.  There were a couple of slight bottlenecks, but very little traffic otherwise.

Wally World was our "pad" again for the night, this time in Longview, on the eastern side of Texas.  It was nearly dark when we got here so there wasn’t any time to cache.

Today’s Travel Totals:  Miles traveled, 188---Critter sightings, 1 deer.

November 27, 2012

November 27, 2012

Yesterday, we traveled through flat ranch land.  Today, we turned south at Wichita Falls, where the terrain changed to rolling hills with scrubby vegetation, cacti, and small trees.

The sign of wealth here, besides oil wells in your front yard, is the size of the entryway to your ranch.  Granted, the road passed the gate may be gravel or dirt, but the gate must make a statement!

We went by a small high school.  Most of the vehicles in the parking lot were pickups.  Yup, we're in Texas!

We parked at the Walmart in Weatherford.  After we ate lunch we went to the upholstery shop to see about having the foam in our sofa replaced.  Our appointment was scheduled for tomorrow morning, but after discussing it, neither of us felt good about it.  We will find some other place down the road.

We did some geocaching, but didn’t have as much luck as we would’ve liked.  Our percentage was 50%.  That’s not too great, but we had fun anyway.

Today’s travel totals:  miles traveled, 281---geocaches logged, 3---critter sighting, 1 deer (I didn’t count the dead possum by the side of the road).

November 26, 2012

November 26, 2012

Bill said we left Lamar at 6:30. You couldn't prove it by me.  I slept through the rest of Colorado, the Panhandle of Oklahoma, and into Texas.  Bill said he did our state line routine on both occasions. But once again, you couldn't prove it by me!

At some place along the way, we changed time zones. The good thing about that is lunchtime coming earlier.

In Amarillo, we stopped for fuel, for the motorhome and for us. When all three tummies were happy, we got back out on the road.

Between Amarillo and Childress we passed acres and acres of cotton.  Some fields had been “picked,” and some hadn’t.  A different method is used nowadays for the way cotton is “baled.”  Interesting the things that change.!

We parked for the night at the Walmart in Childress.  There was still some daylight when we got parked, but it had been a long day, especially for Bill, so we decided to skip the geocaching and get some extra rest.

Before we left Loveland yesterday, Meredith gave us “care
packages” from Thanksgiving leftovers.  We have enjoyed having dinner ready when we park for the night.  Thanks!

Early this morning, Bill saw a herd of buffalo.  When we went through the small town of Stratford, a sign announced that it was the pheasant capitol of Texas.  I looked and looked, but didn't see a one!  Darn!

Today’s travel totals:  Miles traveled, 333--critter sightings, a herd  of buffalo.

November 25, 2012

November 25, 2012

We left Loveland this morning at two minutes 'til 10:00.  It was cold and cloudy but no snowflakes falling.  The only flake I see is in the driver seat.

Soon after getting on Interstate 70 we were out in open plains. This part of Colorado isn't very pretty, but it must be good for growing things.  The few trees that are here are leafless and are adding to the bleak terrain.

We stopped in Limon and parked at Flying J long enough to eat lunch.  We were soon back on the road going toward Lamar.  We parked at Walmart with just a little sunlight left, so we set out to find some caches.

The first one we found was in front of the Library.  It was an easy one.  The next one was across from a cemetery.  We weren’t able to find it and by then it was getting dark.

When we got back to Walmart the first person I saw was wearing a Bronco jacket.  I was able to find out about the Broncos winning against Kansas City from her.  Good news is anywhere you can get it!

Travel totals:  mileage traveled today, 250---geocaches found, 1.

November 24, 2012

November 24, 2012

Happy Birthday, Coleson!  I can’t believe you are already 14 years old.  My, oh my!

Michelle and I went to a couple of places this morning.  Our first stop was at Hobby Lobby.  As usual, it took us longer there than we had suspected.  As did our next stop.  It was to deliver a beaded cross to Lorell, Joshua’s girlfriend.  We visited with her family longer than we had expected.  They are a very nice family.

We went back home after that.  There was lots to do before we went to Meredith and Dwaine’s for dinner and an early Christmas.

Joshua, Connor, Bill and I watched the Oregon Ducks play the Oregon State Beavers.  The Ducks won, 48 to 24.  Quack, quack!

At Meredith and Dwaine’s, we had supper of a Mexican soup that Meredith likes to make.  It was really, really good and was especially welcome on a cold night like this one.

After soup and several kinds of pie for dessert, we opened Christmas presents with the Colorado part of the clan.  Connor and Matthew called it “a practice Christmas.”

We will be leaving tomorrow morning.  Connor said it looks strange in their driveway when the MH is gone.  I’m glad we are missed when we’re absent.

November 23, 2012

November 23, 2012

Bill left at 6:30 this morning to take the Honda to Fort Collins. The locking mechanism on the driver’s side was making strange noises.  At first it sounded as if it had the croup.  It continued to get worse, finally sounding like a blast from a machine gun.

When he first drove up a service writer came out and Bill told him the problem with the lock.  Among other things on the cost of the repair was a $52 diagnostic fee.  Bill said to give him the $52 dollars because he had diagnosed it for them.  There was also a $25 charge for shop material...nuts, bolts, towels, things like that.  Bill said when he was in business he didn’t treat his customers that way.

The long and short of it was when Bill got the bill, neither of those things were on it.  I guess they didn’t want to take on a crabby old man so early in the morning.

Today was Black Friday, but Michelle didn’t go anywhere until after lunch.  We needed to go to Lowe’s and Walmart.  Neither of them were terribly busy by that time of day.  We really didn’t want to put our lives in jeopardy by going earlier.

Bill took me to Meredith and Dwaine’s in the middle of the afternoon.  It gave me some extra visiting time with them.  He came back later for “left overs.”  That’s the best thing about Thanksgiving dinner!

November 22, 2012

November 22, 2012

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.  As usual, we have much to be thankful for.  Two geezers, four kids, seven “grandyoungens,” and five “grandpups” all healthy and happy.  And friends galore!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.  Between the three “girls” we had plenty of food.  All the usual items were present, except...

cranberry sauce!  JP and I both really like that part of Thanksgiving dinner.  I bought it yesterday, Meredith put it in the refrigerator to chill, and we both completely forgot to get it out.  Ugh! JP, I needed you here.  You would not have forgotten, would you?

Meredith said we could come back tomorrow for leftovers, including the sauce!

I think we watched a total of three football games.  That was a bit much for some of us, but just right for most in the family.  It all depends on your perspective!

November 21, 2012

November 21, 2012

I had two errands to do this morning...one important and one not so much.  I needed to pick up my Rx forms from our doctor.  We will be leaving and I needed those in my hot little hands.  My second place to go, just a few blocks away, was to Dollar Tree for some gift bags.

Soon after lunch, I went grocery shopping with Frick and Frack, aka Meredith and Michelle.  We had made a menu for Thanksgiving dinner and divided up the list.  We each had our part to buy and make.  There were lots of people in Walmart and the store was getting ready for “Black Friday.”  There were some sections we couldn’t even get into because of all the crates, etc.

Matthew’s birthday will soon be here...November 28, but we will be gone by then.  So, tonight we had a “practice birthday” to give him our presents.  Michelle fixed his favorite dinner of lasagna.  When he opened our present he was so excited.  Remember that Matthew and I both love root beer floats and often go together to treat ourselves.  I had found two tall glasses with handles, just like we get at Red Robin.

We made floats for dessert.  It was a successful party, all the way around.  That may go down in history as the most exciting “practice birthday” Matthew has ever had!

November 20, 2012

November 20, 2012

Michelle, Meredith, Dwaine, and I went to Denver this morning.  Our destination was IKEA.  We shopped for several hours.  About half way through the fun, we ate lunch in their cafeteria.  And then the shopping continued.

We had a really good time.  There is so much to see at Ikea.  I don’t know how long it would take to see everything.  I’m not sure it would even be possible.

On our way to and from, we paid homage to “Mile High Stadium” with salutes.  That is a "Dane girls" tradition.

On our way back to Loveland, we stopped at Costco for some groceries for our Thanksgiving feast.

Tonight, after dinner, Michelle, Meredith, and I opened a package from Lori.  It was filled with jars of homemade relish.  She made it using my grandmother’s recipe, who called it chow chow instead of relish.  It is a real treat to have it.  It goes great with “soul food”...pinto beans, pan fried potatoes, and cornbread.  It makes me hungry just thinking about it.

Back in the motorhome, I worked on some beading projects.  It has been a while since I’ve had that kind of time.

November 19, 2012

November 19, 2012

Michelle and I went to Walmart for a little shopping and lunch at McDonald’s.  Yum, yum!

At 2:00, Meredith and Dwaine came to get us for an afternoon of geocaching.  Joey went with us, but Hapa stayed with Michelle and took a long nap.  She hasn’t felt well today.  Poor little Princess!

We found four caches before the sun began to set and the temperature began to drop.  It was great to be back on the hunt again.  There was quite a bit of walking involved. It was tough for me, but not for the other four.  I must admit I don’t feel any the worse for wear tonight!

I have good news.  I finished the Christmas ornaments today.  That’s one more thing marked off my list.  Yippy, Skippy!

November 18, 2012

November 18, 2012

Michelle and I went to Sam’s Club this morning.  We were there for over an hour.  It was very crowded and most of the people had on Bronco gear.  I’m sure they were trying to get their shopping finished before the game started.  That was our goal, too.

We were all meeting at Meredith and Dwaine’s house for lunch and to watch the game.  I’m glad to report that the Denver Broncos won over the San Diego Chargers.  It was a good game.

Meredith fixed Buffalo wings, using three different seasonings.  They were all very good.  We also had veggies and dip and several kinds of cheese with bread.  For dessert we had an apple and caramel concoction in a crust.  It surely went well with ice cream.

We watched part of another football game.  At half time some of us decided it was time to call it a night.  The diehards stayed ‘til the bitter end.

Jeff Gordon won the NASCAR race from Homestead, Florida today.  It was the last race of the season.  Now we’ll have to wait until February for our next race.  That’s a long time away!

November 17, 2012

November 17, 2012

Meredith, Michelle, and I went shopping today.  We had a good time, but didn’t buy very much.

We spent a lot of time at PetSmart, playing with dogs that were up for adoption.  There was one that we were especially enthralled with.  She was 12 weeks old, and very calm, in spite of the fact that the atmosphere was exciting...several yappy little ankle biters and several cats adding to the bedlam.  In spite of our liking the dog so much, sanity prevailed.  We went back to Meredith’s house to play with her dogs and sigh because of the one left behind.

Oregon played Stanford tonight and lost.  Ugh!  It went into overtime and the Ducks just couldn’t pull it out.  We are very sad tonight.

November 16, 2012

November 16, 2012

Today was much the same as yesterday.  Not only the weather, but what I accomplished was just about a “ditto.”

As of today, the boys are out of school until after Thanksgiving.  They are really excited about having some free time.  And Meredith and Michelle are both taking next week off, so we will have lots of time to gad about.  I’m sure we won’t run out of anything to do.

We are already making tentative plans for our travel route to Mississippi.  We plan to leave here on November 26th.  Our first destination will be Weatherford, Texas.  We have an appointment to have some maintenance work done our sofa.  Several people on Bill’s forums have recommended the place.  Hope it works for us.

For dinner, Bill made meatloaf and baked potatoes, his specialty.  It is a favorite for all of us.  Meredith and Dwaine came for the occasion.  All of our tummies were very happy!

November 15, 2012

November 15, 2012

It was cool and cloudy today.  I don’t think I was warm anytime today.

The good news is that I was able to mark three things off my “to do list.”  Things are looking up!

And I even spent three hours running around town...prescriptions, banking, Habitat for Humanity thrift store. and Walmart.  I got everything on my shopping list.  Unfortunately, none of that was on my first list.

It gets very complicated with all my list, but without them I would really be lost.  For years I have “lived by a list.”  Some of you will understand and some of you won’t.

November 14, 2012

November 14, 2012

At 8:00, I went to get a permanent, which we all know is only temporary.  It always feels good when I’m freshly “kinked.”  I know I look somewhat like a Brillo pad, but it is definitely better than the “fright wig” that I walked in the door with.

Michelle and I went to lunch at Panda Express.  We decided that the whole family might enjoy “Panda” tonight so we took enough for everyone and had an early dinner.  The boys were hungry, as always, and didn’t have to be coaxed into eating a little earlier than usual.

I finished one Christmas project today.  It felt good to mark something off my list.  That hasn’t happened very often lately.

Today, Bill had an appointment with our new doctor.  Everything checked out OK.  Afterwards, he went to Ace Hardware.  Since it was a little warmer, he was wearing shorts.  Someone in the store commented on his attire.  He said that because of Obama’s economic plan that was all he could afford.  He couldn’t afford a whole pair of pants, legs and all.  Oh, dear!

November 13, 2012

November 13, 2012

This morning started out warmer than the high on Sunday.  At this rate the snow will soon be gone.  Sniff, sniff.  (I'm sniffing because I'm sad that the snow is melting, not because I caught a cold from the weather.)

This morning I went to the dermatologist.  The biopsy report was so-so.  Not as serious as the one on my nose, but needs to be frozen.  I could of taken care of the freezing myself these past two days, eh?

We went on several errands while we were out.  One was to Arby's for lunch, which wasn't classified as an errands, except they have Denver Bronco glasses and that's really important. Right?

We also stopped at the Senior Center.  I need a permanent and thought I might be able to get a recommendation there.  As you may know, my hair is a problem and running around the country makes it more difficult to deal with.  Mission accomplished!  I have an appointment tomorrow.

I really am enjoying my iPad.  As we are going around town on our errands I can work on my blog.

After Bill "inspected the insides of his eyelids," aka took a nap, we went to do some shopping.  He just loves playing taxi driver for me!

We made stops at Home Depot, Joann Fabrics, Kohl's, and Target. Only at one place did we find anything we needed.  No wonder so many people shop on line.

At 5:45, we went to collect Meredith to go to the monthly Geocaching meeting.  We've been to several of their meetings over the last couple of years.  We are getting to know some of the locals.

November 12, 2012

November 12, 2012

“Ditto” of yesterday’s early morning weather report.  (13° and sunny.)

Bill and I had meant to go on some errands this morning, but it was so cold we just hung around the house, wrapped in blankets.

I did more work on the ornaments today.  Perhaps I will get them finished soon.  I still have some gluing to do and a couple of other things.  I’m getting close, though.  Yippy, Skippy!

I have also been working on another Christmas project for the girls.  It is going faster.

When we leave here, in less than two weeks, I want to leave with my Christmas list taken care of and packages wrapped.  I really need to get in gear.  And we also have two birthdays coming up soon, Coleson and Matthew.  It really keeps me busy!

The snow we had a couple of days ago kind of helped getting things in a holiday mood.  That’s the encouragement I seem to need.

Tonight Michelle had spaghetti and hot rolls for dinner.  It was all very good.  She says that is her usual Monday night dinner.  Monday can be a stressful day for her at work, catching up after the weekend.

Today was Veteran's Day.  We have two vets in our family...Bill was in the Army for two years and Brent served 16 years in the Air Force.

November 11, 2012

November 11, 2012

Here’s today’s beginning weather report...13° with several inches of very fluffy snow, under a clear blue sky.  It was such a beautiful thing to see.

There is a new dog in the Dane family.  Her name is Maddie.  She belongs to Natalia.  Or maybe I should say Natalia belongs to her.
Anyway, she is an adorable, scruffy, tiny two year old sweetheart and Natalia loves her.

So now our dog family is all sizes.  Willie is our great big giant lovable guy about the size of a small horse.  Everyone loves Willie.  If you don’t believe me, just ask him.

Next is Joey.  He’s big and strong, and very smart.  I’ve tried to teach him to talk.  He responds in a variety of tones, depending on the situation.  And he has a lot of patience, especially when it comes to...

...Hapa, his little sister, and can be quite a nuisance, including chewing the hair off the tip of Joey’s tail.  She looks like a fox, has one blue eye and one brown, and likes to be in charge.

Tucker is a small black Schnauzer who loves Lori dearly and would just as soon have Lori all to himself, thank you very much!!!

I’ve already told you about tiny Maddie.

So you can see that the Dane dog family members come in all sizes, from very big to very tiny.

It didn’t get above freezing today.  The temp tonight is already down to 18°.  We are certainly enjoying our new electric blanket!

November 10, 2012

November 10, 2012

We weren't in too much of a hurry this morning.  There was a fairly good breakfast with a nice variety at the hotel.  It rained while we were eating, but had stopped by the time we loaded things in the car.

Before leaving the area we filled the gas tank.  There isn't much chance of bad weather, but we're prepared just in case.

We took a back road from Pueblo West to I-25, cutting off about 20 miles of the trip and allowing us to avoid Pueblo.  The scenery in the area was "nothing to write home about," just lots of sage brush and scrappy clumps of wild grass.  But a short cut is usually good and this one was just that...good!

Once we got north of Colorado Springs the scenery improved. There were pine trees and we were closer to the mountains.

The further north we drove the worse the weather got. When we left Pueblo West the temp was 56°.  By 1:00, with 40 miles to go to Loveland, the temp was 33° and it was snowing.  We were glad for the snow, but ready to get home so we could enjoy watching the white stuff fall!  It continued to snow hard for several hours.

We went to Meredith and Dwaine's for dinner.  On a snowy night, what could be better than chili?  It was really good.

We went back home in time to see the Oregon Duck’s game against Cal.  It was snowing hard again.  As we were watching the game, Bill who claims to not be too fond of snow, kept jumping up to look outside to see if it was still snowing.  What a fake!

58 to17!  That’s a “quack attack!’

November 9, 2012

November 9, 2012

33° this morning.  Br-r-r-r!

Michelle and I left Loveland midmorning, after going on a couple of errands.  We were headed for the Pueblo area.  Joshua’s football team has their first game in their pursuit for the state title.

On our way south we stopped at IKEA.  After eating lunch in their cafeteria we shopped.  We didn’t buy very much...mainly located some items to buy when we come back just before Thanksgiving.  Meredith will be with us then.  We will also be in a larger vehicle than the CRV.

When we got to Pueblo, we turned west on Hwy. 50.  It seemed like a long trip out to Pueblo West, but it probably wasn’t over seven or eight miles.  Once we turned off Hwy. 50 we had to drive several miles to the school where the game will be played.  Michelle wanted to find the stadium before darkness overtook us.

We went back into Pueblo West and checked in at a Comfort Inn.  After resting for a few minutes, we went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner.  They were crowded so we shared a table with a couple of locals.  They are also motorhomers, but only use their MH two months a year to escape the snow.

The temperature was in the mid 50s when we got to the game.  We had expected it to be colder and had come with lots of cold weather clothes.  About half of them we didn’t need, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

Unfortunately, Loveland didn’t win the game, so they are finished for this season.  Connor will have to continue to represent the family for the next two years.  Tonight was Joshua’s final high school football game.

November 8, 2012

November 8, 2012

I was a little more active day today.  Michelle and I went to Sam’s Club for some office supplies for her.  I didn’t have any shopping to do, but went along for the ride.

I spent some time this afternoon filing the papers that had accumulated when I cleaned my "office."

At 4:30, Meredith came to get me to go to PetSmart.  I was completely out of dog treats for the pups.  That is inexcusable!  But I took care of that at the store.  On our way back home she took me by the pizza place to pick up dinner.  Hm-m-m-m!  It was my night to cook!

When I was at home today I worked on the ornaments for this year.  I had hoped to be finished by now, but it didn’t happen.  I’m glad I started early.  I should make it by Christmas.

November 7, 2012

November 7, 2012

Sunny and cool in Loveland this morning.  I usually would be able just say “ditto” since the days are mostly the same at this time of the year.

The only time I was away from home today was when I went to Walmart for Michelle.  She needed frozen bread dough for calzones.

Meredith and Dwaine (and the pups) came for dinner.  The calzones were wonderful...a great way to fill football players’ tummies.  The boys really did enjoy them.

I had some “office” work to do tonight.  Bill calls our table my office.  It is also my craft place, and the place where I usually eat.  Occasionally, we both eat there, but not often.  Bill likes to sit on the sofa to eat.  He has learned, however, not to set his plate down when Willie is around.  Golden Retrievers have big tongues and can clear a plate in one swipe.  Bill learned that the hard way in July.

November 6, 2012

November 6, 2012

First on our list of today’s activities was an appointment with the dermatologist.  Another biopsy was taken in the area of the stitches from my fall in Santa Barbara.  I also had another spot “frozen.”

We spent most of the afternoon resting and watching some of the election news, alternating that with Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, and Lawman.  Guess what we would rather be watching?  Right!  We are both so tired of the election, etc. etc. etc.!

The sun is going down so early these days that it gets cold early in the evening.  We are enjoying our new electric blanket.  Sunny days with cold nights is a good combo.

Monday, November 5, 2012

November 5, 2012

November 5, 2012

Michelle and I went to get Joey and Hapa this morning.  They will spend the day in the office with Michelle.  They love “helping” Michelle.

Bill and I had several errands to go on this morning.  Two of them took us north to Fort Collins.  While we were there at lunchtime we went to Burger King to practice for our 53rd anniversary in April.  Any excuse will do!

At 3:20, I had an appointment with a doctor at the clinic we have been using for our primary care.  Bill took me, went to collect Matthew from school, then back to get me.  Bill thinks of himself as a taxi driver these days!

And once again, I have another UTI (urinary tract infection).  Ugh!  So I am on a stronger antibiotic for the next 10 days.  This is getting tiring.  But I guess I just have to keep trying to get it taken care of.

I would like to say that things are sh.... right now, but it wouldn’t be nice, would it?  Besides, I’ve been through much worse in the last 75 years, so I’ll just keep on as I always do.

November 4, 2012

November 4, 2012

Meredith and I went grocery shopping this morning.  The store was very crowded, with most of the people wearing Bronco gear of various kinds.  The game was scheduled to start at 11:00.  It took us longer to check out than we expected and the game had already started by the time we got home.

It was a good game, especially so since the Broncos won.  There were some tense moments, but we were cheering as loudly as we could.  I’m sure it helped.

We were all gathered at Meredith and Dwaine’s for the game and lunch.  It was lots of fun.  And the dogs did their own kind of cheering.  Our girls have been cheering for the Broncos since way back when they were little bitty things.  And they are still “dyed in the wool” fans.

Brent, on the other hand, resisted the upbringing.  He spent most of his growing up years in Oregon and seemed to take to the Seattle Seahawks.  That’s OK with the rest of us and we are always glad when his team wins (which they did today), especially since the “SeaPigons” are no longer in the same league as the Broncos.  If they ever played each other in the Super Bowl problems might arise.  That probably isn’t a likelihood!

We are a family united when the Oregon Ducks play and that’s good!  We like the “quack attack,” as they did yesterday.

November 3, 2012

This morning, Michelle and I went with Meredith and Dwaine to a sale of used sporting equipment.  Dwaine bought a really nice winter coat for $20.  Afterwards, we walked about a block to the library.  After checking out several books we went to Sam's for lunch.

Michelle and I still had some shopping to do.  She needed to match some fabric for a quilt.  With that taken care we went back home.  By then, I was really dragging.  I lay down to rest and read my book.

Just before the Qregon-USC game started, Meredith sent a text inviting us to dinner.  When we got to their house, the Ducks had put seven points on the board.  I called Brent to get an update on the action.  It was a tense and exciting game.  Oregon won, but not by as much as in recent games.  I thought we might have to resuscitate Bill he got so excited.

There was something that I forgot to put in yesterday's blog.  At the football game last night, raffle tickets were being sold.  (We weren't approached to buy tickets.  We didn't know anything about the raffle.).  Meredith said you know you're in the Rocky Mountains when the two tickets drawn won snow blowers.

November 2, 2012

Still cloudy here today, but colder than yesterday.  If it would get cold enough to snow, I’d be a very happy person, but, alas, it isn’t that cold.

Today was a productive day for me.  I cleaned out my side of the closet and the cabinets.  I gathered things to donate at Habitat for Humanity, my favorite thrift store.  After Michelle finished working for the day, we took the things to Habitat.  Of course, while we were there we just had to do some shopping.  That’s a given.

We also made a quick stop at Walmart.  Before going back home we also stopped at Hobby Lobby.

When we left for Joshua's football game, the temperature was 54°.  It was 43° when the game was over.  Actually nice football weather.  By the way, Joshua's team won, 26-20.  And he played a really good game.  Now they will advance toward playing for State Champions.

After the game, went out on the field to talk to some of the players.  We spent quite a bit of tune talking with Joshua and his girlfriend, Laurel.  She is adorable.  In fact, they are both so darn cute.  Several players and coaches came up to tell Joshua what a good game he played.  It did this grandmother’s heart good to hear the nice things people were saying about him.

November 1, 2012

It was cloudy and cold today.  Boo, hiss!

In spite of the weather we went to watch Connor's last football game of the regular season.  He played center.  It was a good game.  Connor's team won 34-26, which made it an even better game.

On our way home, Michelle and I went to Panda Express.  They have good take out and we can probably convince everyone that we stayed home and cooked all day.

Meredith and Dwayne came for dinner.  We had a good time visiting around the table.
