April 11, 2012

April 11, 2012

It was nearly noon before we pulled out of Walmart’s parking lot.  That is just about the latest departure time we’ve ever had, I think!  Its amazing how easily we can switch back and forth to retirement mode.

We drove north on I-55 to Enid and parked at Wallace Creek Campground, another Corps of Engineers facility.  Our particular camping area is called Piney Woods.  That’s a nice name.  It reminds me of Mammy Yokum.  Oh, she lived in Dogpatch, didn’t she?  Who lived in the Piney Woods?  Besides us, for the next three days.

I didn’t load any caches for the area so the only exercise we can claim for today was walking to the Registration Kiosk.  It was about a mile, roundtrip.  This is a really beautiful campground and it was a pleasant walk.

Today’s mileage, 29 miles.
