April 24, 2012

April 24, 2012

I knew the day was going to be an “adventure” when I lost my cell phone.  Since our house is only 306 sq. ft. there weren’t too many places to look.  Finally, I asked Bill to call me.  After grumbling about using up his minutes that might cause him to not be able to talk on the phone as much as he would like to (yeah, right), he called my number.

You must realize something about the cowboy in the coach.  It is kind of like on the old TV show, Rawhide...head ‘em up, move ‘em out.  When Tex gets ready to go he puts things away, whether it is where they belong or not.  My phone was in the bag with our GPSs!

With that mystery solved we headed down the road toward Bay Springs Lake to a COE facility, Piney Grove Campground.  Along the way we passed a wrecking yard for ATVs.  There weren’t just a few broken down or wrecked.  There were hundreds.  This area must be a hard place for those machines.  Wow! There were a lot of them!

We checked into the campground, after driving for 20 miles on very curvy, narrow roads.  We are in a forest of pine and ash trees.  Its beautiful.  This is the most northerly COE campground on the Tennessee (River)-Tombigbee Waterway.  We plan to stay at several campgrounds on the “Tombigbee” before returning to Brent’s house in early June, just in time for Sara’s 12th birthday.
