January 17, 2013

Happy Birthday, Bill.  I didn’t provide him with a birthday cake, because all those candles would have been a fire risk in the motorhome.

Some of you may not know that William Boyd Dane, (aka Bill, Tex, Bozo the Clown, Himself, Captain of the Ship, etc. etc. etc.) was named after Hopalong Cassidy, played by William Boyd.  No wonder “my cowboy” likes Westerns so much.

We started the day with a free pancake breakfast at La Mesa RV.  Every time we are there we meet interesting people.  Of course, nearly all of us have RVs of one kind or another.  Those that don’t are there to shop for one.

With happy tummies we set off to find some caches.  The first four we found were in town and were easy to get to.  The next three were out on the desert.  We went down and up out of washes following rocky dirt trails.  There were many U-turns involved.  In the car, we use our older Nuvi.  “She” must have said “recalculate” at least 30 times (I lost count) when she suddenly stopped and we discovered we were 20 feet from the cache.  If she had the capacity to be annoyed with us, I am very sure she was “ticked off” today.

We ate lunch at Burger King before going to a Quartzsite Geocachers Meet and Greet gathering.  We had a great time.  There were at least 100 people there.

Both of us were ready to get back home for some rest.
