January 9, 2013

January 9, 2013

We left Lordsburg at 7:00.  Thirty minutes later we crossed the state line of Arizona with lots of honking and yelling.  Our first stop was at the Rest Area at Texas Canyon.

The area is covered with huge boulders.  At times, big horn sheep can be seen climbing around in the rocks.  We stopped there to eat breakfast and watch for any sign of life in the rocks.  We didn’t see any critters, not even a chipmonk.

When we got back on the road I was at the wheel.  Traffic was heavy and we had to go through a construction area...two things I dread, but everything was OK.  I drove all the way to the Pima County Fairgrounds.  Yea!

At the RV park on the Fairgrounds, we parked next to friends, Dwight and Sheila.  We had a lot of catching up to do.  There was seldom a pause in the conversation.  We talked for so long there wasn’t time to go caching.  It was getting toward sunset when we went to Subway for supper.

We knew Dwight and Sheila long before either of us moved into our motorhomes and hit the road.  Our many trips into Mexico were with D and S.  Our memories go way back.  The fun will continue tomorrow!

Today’s Travel Totals:  Mileage, 143.
