August 2, 2011

We went out to geocache this morning and had just about the worst day we’ve ever had.  We found one cache and had about six DNFs.  Ugh!  And it was too hot to be out and about, anyway.

John Deere headquarters is located in this area.  We went to visit the section that makes the harvesters (aka combines).  After climbing up into one of the green giants and seeing the aminities...air conditioner, GPS, radio, comfortable seats just to name a few...we visited with a farmer from eastern Illinois.  He shared a lot of information with us.  It was interesting getting a first hand report from someone who talks the talk and walks the walk...farming!

After going to Burger King for lunch we went home to rest.  Later, while Bill took care of the laundry, I continued my sewing project.  After dinner I worked on a beading project.

Tomorrow we depart this area.
