We secured possessions, pulled in the slide, unhooked from electricity, and did a Willie Nelson...”On the road again, just can’t wait to get on the road again...”
In about 25 miles we came to the town of Fulton, IL. There is a full sized replica of a Dutch windmill, built in Holland, dismantled and shipped, and assembled in Fulton. It sits on a levee on the Mississippi River. We were given a tour and shown how grain is ground. It wasn’t making flour today, but the guide did explain the process. It is no longer legal to move an authentic windmill out of Holland, so a replica built in Holland is the best way to get one over here.
We took time to find a cache and eat ice cream before continuing on our journey. Honk! honk! Yahoo! as we crossed the Mississippi River into Iowa and headed north.
After parking at Sam’s Club in Dubuque, IA and resting for awhile, I went to Walmart for groceries while Bill took another nap.
Travel Totals: Motorhome miles, 95---geocaches, 1---Dutch windmill, 1.
We will have to go back to Holland again, get lost again, head down a street the wrong way again and end up in front of the most beautiful row of windmills again... this time we'll stop and whip out the camera :)
