September 5, 2012

Happy Birthday, Connor.  16 years old.  Wow!

We left Medicine Bow at 7:00.  Medicine Bow was the main town in the Western series, The Virginian.  In the series, most of it took place at Shilo Ranch.  I don’t know where it was filmed, but certainly not around here.  It was dry and flat, with hardly a tree in sight.

At Rawlins, we stopped at McDonalds for pancakes.  After filling our tummies, we went to a fuel stop and filled the MH.  Pancakes are cheaper than diesel and taste better, I’m sure.

Soon after getting back onto I-80 we crossed the Continental Divide.  Before getting to Rock Springs, we had crossed it several more times.  On the map, the divide looks like a snake.

We parked at Walmart in Rock Springs.  After resting for a bit we went to lunch, with plans to go geocaching before going back home. It was not to be.  The wind was blowing 25 mph and gusting higher than that.

We waited until late afternoon to go caching.  The wind was a bummer!

Today’s Travel Totals:  Mileage, 175---Geocaches, 4--Critter sightings, none because they have more sense than to be out in this horrible wind.  We did see what we thought might be herds of wild horses.
