September 6, 2012

At 7:00 this morning we were on the road toward Evanston.  "Super Driver" said the terrain was hilly.  I don’t know because I was asleep.  Different priorities, eh?

We parked at Walmart in Evanston, ate breakfast, had some rest time for “SD,” and went geocaching.  We found four caches before deciding we would drive on toward Salt Lake City.

Soon after leaving Evanston we crossed into Utah.  Honk, honk!  Yahoo!  Bill really likes honking those big air horns.  The drive was downhill through a beautiful canyon.  Many of the trees had started to change to their fall colors.

After we got into Salt Lake City, we missed the exit to Sam’s Club.  It was a long way to get to a place where we could turn around.  Would you believe we missed the turn again?  Yup, we did.  So we had to hunt for another U-turn place.  We finally found Sam’s and parked the coach.

The saga didn’t stop there.  Chapter 2 reads like this...the reason we wanted to come to this particular Sam’s was because the Walmart Atlas listed this location with diesel at their gas station.  Guess what!  The atlas was incorrect!

But the story has a happy ending. Chapter 3...I thought there might be a cache in the area so I searched on my iPhone.  Wow!  There was a cache 15 feet from our front door.  It didn’t take long to find it.  Yippy, Skippy!

Today’s Travel Totals:  Mileage, 190---Geocaches, 5.
