May 20, 2012

As we were going into Columbus this morning, Bill pulled off the road to change something on our navigation system, aka Nuvi.  His pull off spot was the driveway of a very large plantation house that we see every time we are going into town.

A lady, with her dog nearby, was working in her flower bed.  I got out of the car to talk to her and pet the dog.  It was a very interesting chat,  mostly about her house built in 1847 on a 5000 acre cotton plantation.  Wow!  What a house!  She told me a lot of the history of this area.

We went on into town to see if the Visitor Center had a map and information on the antebellum houses in the area.  Unfortunately, the center was closed on Sunday.  Two of the caches that we found were at old mansions, so we were able to see some in the area.

We found three caches before going back home so Bill could rest and I could work on my project.  I was also able to get some beading done.

Tomorrow will probably be a travel day.
