May 29, 2012

I slept late while Bill did the laundry.  What a great guy!  After sorting and putting everything away and eating breakfast, we headed into Meridian.

On the way in, we stopped at a beauty shop so I could get my haircut.  It was overdue.  My hair is very short now, but it will have about three weeks to grow before we go to Colorado.

We did three caches today.  Two of them were very difficult to find, but we persevered.  The first difficult one was high in a magnolia tree in a hollowed out magnolia seed pod.  Bill had to climb up into the tree to retrieve it and to put it back after I signed the log.

The other hard one to find was in a parking lot.  The cache container was secured to a piece of rebar painted yellow and stuck down in a concrete hole.  There were other rebar pieces painted yellow, but none of them moved.  That was a sneaky hiding place.

The last one was at a railway museum.  It was quick to find, but the magnet holding it in was very strong and Bill had a hard time getting it out of its hiding place.

The weather was so hot and muggy that we didn’t have enough energy to find more caches.

After dinner, we went to several boat docks on the lake where we are camping.  We were looking for alligators, but didn’t see any.  We’ll “hunt” another day, but at a different time.  Early in the morning might be a better time.
