July 20, 2014---Michelle’s in Loveland, Colorado

Bill and I left home at 8:00 this morning.  Our first stop was at McDonald’s for breakfast to take with us.  The second stop was at Walmart to get some new mosquito repellant things.

From there we drove to Fort Collins, turned left toward the mountains and made our way up to Horsetooth Reservoir.  We planned a family picnic for today and Bill and I were going early to get a table.

We went to the County Park area.  There is a section designated for swimming.  Dogs have to be out of that area, but not far away  from the swimming area.  We got a table with a cover and set our things out.  Soon after we got there, all the tables were filled up.  We were certainly glad we had gotten off to an early start.

Bill and I sat and watched activity on the Reservoir.  Lots of boats and water skiers were out early.  And kayaks, scuba divers and paddle boards, also.  By the time the rest of our group arrived,  the parking lot was nearly full and people were putting down towels, chairs, etc., anywhere they could find.  It was very crowded on the bank, but people spread out onto the lake so the activity area was okay.

Coleson was the first to take the plunge.  He reported the water was cold, but he went right back in and stayed longer.  The rest of the family found a great place to get in with the dogs.  We could see them from our picnic table.

After lunch, most of the group went into the water again.  Coleson and Connor were the last to get out...except Willie.  They had all gone for a short hike, when Willie decided to take a swim.  He saw some girls out in the lake and decided to join them.  No amount of coaxing could get him back on shore until his visit was finished!

By mid afternoon, we were all back home taking naps!
