August 4, 2014---Rock Springs, Wyoming

Willie Nelson was singing as we left Loveland at 9:30.  After taking a secondary road through Fort Collins  we turned onto Hwy. 287.  At Laramie, we took I-80 west.

The drive to Laramie was nice..ranchland and rocks, rolling hills and blue sky, and a good road with not much traffic.  We have traveled this way before and have enjoyed it.

We haven’t been on the road for awhile so we are really out of practice.  The proof of that is that we missed the state line between Colorado and Wyoming.  There was no celebration!  We’ll try to get our act together for the next opportunity.

We stopped at a Rest Area before Rawlins for lunch and naps.  We had some sprinkles, but it didn’t amount to much.  There was even some lightening involved, but not much else.  The clouds in that part of Wyoming were beautiful.

We saw eight Rams.  Can I list them on the critter count?  No?  Actually they were trucks, same color and same license plate, traveling together, probably for testing the new trucks or something.  Also following, with the same color and license plate, was a Chevy truck.  Maybe he was for test comparisons, but whatever the reason, they made him go last!  Would that be considered some kind of “bullying?”

Just before getting to Rock Springs, we ran into a terrible rain and wind storm.  By the time we parked at Walmart for the night, the storm had just about passed by.

Today’s Travel Totals:  Mileage, 287.
