February 17, 2016—-Yuma, Arizona

We went caching a little bit later today than yesterday.  I’d guess both Bill and Todd thought I needed some extra rest. And they were probably right.

We were able to find ten caches before calling it quits.  They were scattered here and there on the desert between I-8 and the canal.  It is a really pretty part of the desert, with more trees and bushes than out on the Bombing Range.

We saw huge areas of orange wild flowers and closer to the road were purple flowers.  The ocotillo were showing their red blooms and tiny green leaves.  We saw a few saguaro cacti, but not many.  There were date farms in the area and orange groves, also.  It is really a place of its own kind of beauty.

When we got back into the Foothills area of Yuma, we went to a street vendor for lunch.  One of them has very good fish and chips and that was the one we chose.  There were 10 or 12 vendors in the area we went to and most of them were busy.  The only drawback to eating outdoors was the traffic on the street beside us.  We found a cool, shady place to eat and in this part of Arizona, shade is really high on the list of amenities.

After going home for some rest time, Bill and I decided to go to McDonald’s for treats…ice cream.  It didn’t agree with my stomach so it is now on my list of things to avoid.

We went to Walmart for just a little grocery shopping and then spent the evening watching TV.
