This morning we drove west to the coast. It was great to be out in the country. The hills were brown and very dry, but there was a lot to see.
We went past a huge prison complex. The sign read “California Men’s Colony.” That was a new one for us. Is the word “colony” a politically correct way of saying “the slammer?”
As “Tex” and I drove past ranch land, we saw a rather large herd of cattle, probably over 100. They appeared to be going somewhere with a purpose. We soon found out what it was. Around the bend, at the back of the herd, came five or six cowboys, “encouraging” the slackers to get a move on. Yeehaw! A roundup!
Morro Bay was our destination for the day. It had been a long time since we have been there. It’s a really pretty setting with lots of fishing boats and pleasure craft in the bay. The weather was perfect for enjoying a tourist village and, of course, caching.
We found seven “treasures” along the waterfront, plus five more in other parts of town. Twelve for the day. Not bad, eh?
After returning home, Bill took a long nap while I did some jobs around the house.
