December 3, 2011
Today was a “must cache” day for us. As many years as we have been involved in this sport it’s hard to believe that December 3 was missing from our 366 list. Before noon we went on the “hunt.” Although it was very windy we were able to find three in a relative short period of time.
I went with Lori and Natalia to buy a Christmas tree. There was a good selection, but the price was rather high. While they set up the tree I lay down to rest and read for a while. I don’t know how long my nap lasted, but nap I did! The tree was nearly decorated by the time I got back into the living room.
About 11 or 12 years ago, Lori thought it would be fun to have an ornament making party. Seven friends were at the first one. Each person brought a sample of a handmade Christmas ornament and supplies for each person to make the ornament. When we went home that night we each had seven new decorations.
The number has changed slightly over the years. Kathy came only the first year. Jennifer joined the group the second year and Judy moved to San Diego four years ago. This year Karen had another obligation, but five of us were there...Dee, Jennifer, Alex, Lori, and yours truly.
We had a great time. Lots of talking, laughing, and eating. We also made some creative ornaments. One of the group had travel stories to share and another shared her son's Kindergarten adventures. Job uncertainties were a concern of one of us, and two are having some personal issues. One is a law enforcement officer and came from work, complete with her weapon. That’s a first time anyone has come “packing heat.” We all felt extra safe! It’s a great group of friends that have a “blast” together.
