December 7, 2011

Bill made a hot meal this morning.  Toast!  Don’t you think I taught him well?

After spending the morning trying to accomplish some household chores and failing miserably, we met Lori and her friend Nicholas for lunch.  We ate at Jack’s in Pleasant Hill.  I hadn’t been there before.  It was very nice and the food was good.

We went to cache after lunch and parting with our hosts.  The first cache was not in the place we feel sure it should have been.  The last person to hunt for it agreed with us.  It must have sprouted legs and left.  Shucks!

The next cache was a challenge of a different kind.  We couldn’t find a way to get to Ground Zero without going across private property.  Since we didn’t want to spend the afternoon in the “pokey,” we gave up and went home.

At 3:00 we met up with Lori at her house.  I sampled one of Natalia’s cinnamon rolls.  She made them yesterday.  Although they were just a bit stale, they had a really good taste.  She’s becoming a very good cook.

Nicholas picked us up in his Hummer and we all went up to the top of Mt. Diablo for a Pearl Harbor observance.  There were a lot of people up there.  At the end of their short presentation they played Taps.  It was an impressive ceremony, although we were too far away to hear much.  It was very cold so the warm vehicle was welcomed.

Oh, I forgot to tell you.  On the road to the top of Mt. Diablo we found three geocaches.  It was a successful day all the way around.
