May 2, 2014--Sikeston to Lincoln, Illinois

“On the road again...” at 8:30 this morning.  Another clear day as we head toward St. Louis.

The terrain changed from flat farmland to rolling hills before we got to St. Louis.  The last time we were here it was 105° so we didn’t go to the Gateway Arch.  By the time we got to the area today, we had some heavy clouds, so we went by again.  This will have to stay on our “someday list” a while longer.

When we crossed the Mississippi once again, we were in Illinois (Honk, honk! Yahoo!).  And back in farming country...very flat.

We had planned to park for the night at the Walmart in Litchfield.  Our arrival was earlier than expected.  After parking, we rested for about 30 minutes, ate lunch, and then went geocaching.  It was overcast and windy, but we found five caches fairly easily.  It was cold, cloudy, and windy.  Not a nice day for caching, but we survived.  Since it was still early in the afternoon, we decided to weigh anchor and go on a little further day.

We stopped in Lincoln, Illinois for the night...good old Walmart!

Travel totals:  Mileage traveled, 275--Geocaches found, 5.
