Today was a busy day for all of us. The first thing Michelle and I did was walk a couple of blocks to a garage sale. She spent a dime for a Bronco glass and I spent fifty cents for a vase for Meredith. We took the long way home. Michelle wanted to show me the landscaping of a house along the way.
Meredith came at 10:00. She and Michelle have a friend who is an excellent gardner and raises most of their food. While we went to see Sarah, Bill and the boys stayed home and worked on the front yard.
Sarah, her husband, and four girls live in an older house near old downtown Loveland. If I were writing an English novel, I might call it a cottage. The front yard and both side yards are planted in very neat rows with a variety of plants. Their backyard is large, with room for a greenhouse, several rabbit hutches, and a chicken coop.
While Meredith and Michelle talked in depth about gardens, Sarah’s daughter, Bella, gave me a private tour of their yard. She is a delightful little girl. We had a good time talking about all sorts of things, from shark’s teeth to seashells to Beatrix Potter.
Before going back to Michelle’s house, we went to a nursery and Home Depot. By then, we were getting hungry, so we ate at the parking lot vendor at Home Depot.
While the rest of the family worked on the yard, I rested. We ended the afternoon sitting in the backyard playing with the dogs. Dark clouds began to build in the south, moved our way, and rained, probably at least four dozen drops.
